Georgia Trip - Part I

I'm not exactly sure how many "parts" there will be to this...but there could be a few, considering how long it took me to write this much! :D But...I need to write it down before I forget, since I don't really keep a journal. But...

I had a BLAST!!! I have never been very far East (furthest was Missouri), furthest south...well, I don't really know! I pretty much have spent 99.9% of my lifetime in Wyoming/Idaho/Utah, so this was a fun change! Plus I got to see some super cute kids (and my sister) that I haven't seen since last August. Since Ben has been gone, my sister decided she needed some help taming her wild children...or at least have another adult in the house so she didn't go crazy talking to herself! lol (jk!) So I was really glad I was able to go visit her for a week.

My flight was a 6:45 in the a.m. on the 9 of March (holy crap! has it really been that long?!?). Greg and I went to bed early the night before and got up at 3:30 in the a.m. to drive to SLC. I have never flown by myself before, so I wanted to make sure we got there in plenty of time....which we did! lol. It wasn't really that bad waking up that early...but I did get there plenty early so I had plenty of time to find my gate. I stuffed everything in a carry-on so I wouldn't have to worry about my luggage. Yeah, that was a challenge! But Shari told me I could use all her stuff (ie, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, etc!) So that was nice not to have to pack any of that. Well, I had 3 layovers, and I was SUPER nervous that I would miss my flights because I only had like 30 minutes between each stop, and since I've never flown, I really didn't know what to expect as far as how far I'd have to go to get to my next gates.

Well, my first flight took me to Denver, and when we took off...lol, I felt like a kid in a candy store! I LOVE LOVE LOVE flying, so I had to try my hardest not to smile and look like a total dork, since the dude next to me flew all the time. But I loved it. I had window seats on all my flights, so I got to look out the window whenever I wanted. That was super...and the free drinks and pretzels only added to the excited! The first flight seemed to go by SOOO fast! Luckily we landed in gate 32, and my next flight was 34, so I just had to walk like 20 feet to get to my next check-in, which also meant I had plenty of time to use the bathroom, since I'm too scared to use airplane toilets...(not that airport ones are better...lol, but I'd take those over plane!) The nice thing about short layovers is I didn't have to sit and wait forever for my next flight. I literally had time to get off plane #1, find and use the bathroom, and get back to my next gate and they were boarding. Very nice!

My next flight (Denver to Atlanta) was on a larger plane, the largest I've been on (when I went to missouri for nationals, the planes were all small, first had 2 seats on each side, second has 1 and 2) SO I was pretty stoked about this larger plane...3 seats on each side!! plus they had tvs. There was just me and one other guy, so I had the window seat, and he took the aisle seat. PLENTY OF ROOM! There was nothing good on the TV though, so I just listened to music and read. I fell asleep for a little while, but not too long. My favorite part was there was this map tracker thing on the tv that showed how far/fast/altitude/etc. we were going. Yeah, that entertained me! Again I only had like a 30 minute layover, but luckily before the flight took off they told us what gate we would be flying into, and then they had an airport map so I could kind of figure out where to go. I actually had a ways to go this time, so I had to take the train...exciting! (not really!) Again, arrived in time to use the bathroom, and I maybe sat for a few minutes, but not too long...Then off to Augusta...

On another small plane, and I would have had the row to myself if the chick next to me had taken her right seat!! Some people!!! (jk, it wasn't bad!) It was like a 30 minute flight is all, so it wasn't bad. I arrived in the smallest airport I've ever been in, and walked in and out in like 5 minutes...It was warm outside, so I decided to wait outside for Shari. By this time I was getting pretty tired. But finally they all got to the airport, and it was so fun to see the kids and how much they had changed. Lilli had a cold, and her eyes were pretty swollen, but she was still excited to see me. The boys were just as cute as ever. They looked the same, just bigger....I don't really remember if we did anything that night. I don't think we did. Just hung out at the house and played with the kiddos. By the end of the day, I was exhausted after having been awake since 3:30 in the a.m. but I was super excited to see the kids and get to spend a whole week with them!

So this may have been a boring post, but it's more for me than you, so deal with it! :D I'll update as I feel the need!

I love flying too! Probably because I've only done it a few times and it's just fun and exciting! :) Can't wait to hear more about your fun trip! :)
