April, April, April

Well, the first of April was April Fool's Day. Now had things gone a different way, I had an excellent prank to do on Steve, however, I couldn't do it. so we did the next best thing. We've been cleaning out all the supply rooms, and in our back one there is a whole bunch of crap. So, what do you do when there is a whole bunch of crap that is not being used? Pull it all out and put it all over your co-workers desk. We thought about having someone hide under the table cover, which, let's face it, would have been hilarious, however then wanted me to do it, and it just wouldn't have been good. I had Steve and Kim help me set this up at Caleb's station so he had fun cleaning it all up.

Then, when Steve went to lunch, we moved all of the same crap over to his desk. We are so funny. He was so certain that we wouldn't do it to him. Psh....So "Gull-able". (Seagulls are like our mascot or something. They aren't ducks, even though that's what everyone things they are. I however see a pineapple on our logo every time I drive to work.)

Steve loves us!

That weekend was General Conference, so we of course, due to tradition, had to go get a shake from Arctic Circle. This was the first year we have been in and out in under 10 minutes. Most the time it's upwards of 45 minutes. It was awesome!

Just some pictures of the Logan temple. I love it!

Things with my Etsy shop are going really well. No I'm not making millions yet. I need to do better marketing myself, and I could probably charge more, but I love what I do. One of my customers requested a "Roadmap to Retirement" for one of her coworkers. It was so much fun to do. I'll have to post the entire thing, since I also did a chalkboard infographic as well. I loved them both, and even though they definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone, I love custom requests!

Funny story, I was bored at work so I emailed this to my coworkers (I do this often), and said "Caleb, guess who this is about?" I kid you not, not even half an hour later that member came in. It was awesome. I wish I could tell you the whole story, but basically a member was trying to add stuff on paper and it wasn't adding up to what Caleb's calculator said, but the member wouldn't have it. Finally he just told her she needed to get a calculator. We laughed.

The absolute best part about April was the SNOW! That's right, we FINALLY got snow! It was amazing, and it just snowed and snowed and snowed. It didn't stick to the road either, which was awesome, but it snowed for about 2 days straight. I loved it, and was just about the only person in the entire world who did.

And I think that's about it for now. I need to upload the rest of my April photos, so I'll be back soon!

Adios!

So as mentioned in my previous posts, my boss for the last 4.5 years decided to leave us. We had planned a going away/thank you party for him, but we wanted it to be a secret. Since I'm known to pull some pranks around the CU, it was up to me to make him not expect anything.

I enrolled the help of Caleb, and we took care of things the evening before. In my mind I imagined how awesome it was going to be, but when it came down to it, it would have taken forever to get things where I envisioned. We still spent about 1.5 hours. It was epic.

He posted this on facebook when he came in to work the next morning.
"I come to work early on my last day and this is what i find..and they hid my WYO flag. #bestemployees #13.5years #deseretfirst"

Yes, we took his Wyoming flag down and "hid" it. Apparently that was the first thing that he noticed. We just rolled it up and put it in those tubes you keep posters in. It took him all day to find it.

The rest of the day was just strange. It wasn't really hitting us that he was really going to be gone where we knew we would be seeing him later that night. I was the fortunate one to be leaving first, so it was a bit awkward. Everyone else said it was a bit strange too. I guess when he was saying goodbye to Cole and Caleb, there was an awkward silence where Danny was looking out over the branch, and Cole turned on his music and "Time of Your Life" was playing. Well-played Cole.

We had the party that evening at Chuck-a-Rama. Donna did an amazing job with the decorations and putting all of this together. It was Western themed and she went all out.

^^This is why you don't post embarrassing pictures on facebook! :)

After we were done eating, Mike, who is the area manager said a few things and then headed out, which was actually good because Donna and Steve had the brilliant idea of doing a "Roast", and guess who they said was perfect to host? That would be me...

It was a lot of fun though. Here are some of the highlights.
  • You may have noticed that I had the most difficult time with you leaving. I cried probably more than any one else, which seems odd for a number of reasons, but the truth is, as the only one who has also actually lived in Wyoming, I'm the only one who really know what you're getting yourself into....
  • I always looked forward to our Wednsday meetings....especially when we started 15-20 minutes late because someone's kids didn't wake him up.
  • I've been a bit disappointed that we didn't have them as often with you traveling to SL. I rather enjoyed getting into our spirited debates. It did get a bit awkward a few times when you'd ask if anyone had questions or issues, and while everyone looked at me, you were avoiding my gaze. I'm going to miss arguing with you.
  • Besides, had I known that you just wanted to live in a trailer and pay $280 rent, I would've gladly traded you my trailer for even your rental house. Straight across!
  • I don't think any of us have seen you move so fast, or cuss so loud as when your roof would leak.
  • Things we learned from you:
    • Lending is NOT black and white.
    • Breakfast at Village Inn is NOT the place to talk about switching ‘assignments'
    • Don’t leave chocolate bars in your desk, the mice will find them. Don’t release the mice into a garbage can that has a massive hole in the back. The mice find their way back.
    • Sometimes it’s okay to BS your way through things, especially IRA’s. Which we also learned aren’t really that hard to do….you just call training if you have questions
It was fun, and a good way to enjoy the night. It was so fun to just hang out with my co-workers. We all really do get along so well, we don't need big fancy parties to have a good time. Do you see why I'm so sad that everyone is leaving? Of course, there is more to it now. At the time we still had no idea who would be replacing Danny, though we were all betting on the Assistant Manager Steve. It was scary to go into the unknown. Change is hard. Especially when you spend a lot of time with these people that started as co-workers, and now have beome friends.

Work Shenanigans

I can't say this enough, but I have THE greatest co-workers in the world. They are so dang amazing.

One of my co-workers, we shall call Caleb (because that's his name), is just one of a kind. We can argue and laugh about anything. He is a major Packers fan, while I love the Cowboys. The NFL playoffs worked out that the Cowboys would be playing at Lambo. The Monday after the Cowboys won to go on to play the Packers I decided that we needed to have some fun. Even though I don't really care either way as far as the NFL is concerned, Caleb is very much into his team.

I started it by just doing some little things.

Excellent use of work time & supplies. I then took it up a notch by creating a little story board. Caleb is in love with Taylor Swift, so I thought I'd use that against him. I found this picture of him on facebook (love that his profile isn't private), so I cut out his head and placed it on Ryan Gosling's body.

C: "Hey Girl, you know I'm a Packers fan, right?"
TS: "Oh Crap"

TS: "I knew you were trouble when you walked in!"

TS: "You're the reason for the teardrops on my guitar."
C: "Babe, your hair is much prettier than Clay Matthews'."

C: But Aaron Rodgers is so much sexier than Tony Romo! (And you!)
TS: We are never, ever, EVER, getting back together.

TS: "The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate."
(Wearing a Cowboys jersey)

He thought it was pretty good. I knew he had a plan to get me back, but I had no idea what he was going to do. Imagine my surprise when I walked in to find about 10 sacks of potatoes all around my station with the note, "You've been 'sacked' by Clay Matthews." It was awesome.

I couldn't let him get the last laugh, so I thought and thought all morning before coming up with my next brilliant plan about 45 minutes before he was to come in to work. I wanted to use those potatoes against him, and thought of any potato puns , and I think I came up with a good one to end it all...

Needless to say, he wasn't too happy that I got the last prank. However, in reality, he ended up the winner as his team beat mine.

You win.....I'm sure you'll understand if I'm a bit "crabby" this week. (I made him crab dip)
Also, I changed all my passwords to: PACKERSSUCK!!

And what do you do with ten sacks of potatoes? Give everyone one to take home, then have a potato bar at work with the rest. Heck yes. It was super yummy!

It was a lot of fun. I am so grateful to have awesome co-workers that we can do this type of stuff. Too bad this particular co-worker is leaving our branch at the end of the semester, just don't get me started on that!

Why I Love My Job

It's mostly because of my c-workers. I've been super blessed to have some amazing co-workers. We got some newbies at the beginning of the year, and while that can always be a little scary getting new people and seeing how they fit in, but Cole and Kim fit in. We all get along, and have a great time.

If you remember last year around this time, we did {this} for our boss. Yesterday was his birthday, so we wanted to do something to his office as a 'prank' since he took the day off. On the credenza behind his desk he has pictures of his family and individual pictures of his kids. There are six kids, and six employees, so we facebook stalked each other and printed off pictures from our facebook pages to replace the pictures of his kids. We wondered how long it would take him to notice.

This morning at our meeting, he had received a candy bouquet that was put on his desk, so he picked it up and moved it right in front of the pictures. We looked at each other in anticipation of his reaction. He didn't even notice. He turned right back around and we all started laughing. It wasn't until after the meeting and Cole and Caleb had gone home that we heard him start laughing, He got a good kick out of it, and it was fun for us to do.

(My cute picture that replaced his cute kid's)

We really have a great time, and I love my co-workers. They are the absolute best!

And this happened yesterday. One of the guys I did a loan for brought in some pizza to say thanks for doing a great job. It was awesome. People are so nice. It's great to feel appreciated!
