The Rest of February

February is almost over. Crazy! It's been an interesting month, but good all the same.

We had our enrichment/Relief Society activity on the 13th, and we played the "Not-so-Newlywed" game. We wanted to something on love, but be able to reach out to everyone, so we thought this would be fun. We invited the sisters to bring a loved one (spouse, friend, etc.) and we had a decent turnout. We got the questions from The Dating Divas, and then invited each of the Priesthood leaders and their wives to be on the panel. We even got our Stake President and his wife (they're in our ward). Then we had the 1st counselor in the bishopric, High Priest group leader, Elder's Quorum President, and the Young Men's president and each of their wives. There were some great laughs, and we ended the night with brownies and ice cream. It was loads of fun.

The next day was Valentine's day. We worked, then headed off to Star Valley so we could spend some time with Greg's sister Adrienne (who lives in Virginia) and her almost 2 year old (his birthday is today. Happy Birthday Jax!) It was a good day, and a good trip. There is a ton of snow, and was pretty cold. But it was fun to see family. We haven't seen Adrienne and Jax in about a year, and then Shaina and Jesse came up. We don't get to see them as much either since they moved to Bountiful area. Plus it was nice just to hang out.

My Valentine from Greg...I think he stole it from some kid at school.

Road trip food (Arby's), the fun bumpy bridge outside of Grace, raining almost the entire trip.

Road trip selfie!

Greg & Jax...I think Jax wore Greg out.

Greg's birthday was the 15th, and we just enjoyed a fun, relaxing day in Star Valley. He is 32 this year. I got him a few shirts, and some chocolates. Love him.

On Monday the 17th I got a text from Kennan letting me know that his last home basketball game was on Friday, and that if I wanted, they could come pick me up. Since I haven't seen Kennan play EVER, I thought it would be fun to go. It was fun, and Kennan did awesome. I can't wait to watch him again next year. Hopefully I can make it to more games.

Papa & Liam, Uncle Donald, they block off a section just for the Thompson family.

I can't believe he is already a junior! It is so crazy.

It's so crazy seeing all these kids. There was a section on the opposite with the little elementary kids, and I kept looking over there expecting to see Kennan. I can't believe it.

It was a fun game, and they came out on top. Good luck at regionals this week!

I stayed the night and was woken up early in the morning by a snow plow! It was not even snowing the day before, I was not expecting it. It was coming down pretty good when I finally got out of bed. I spent the morning with the family. Mom and Kandyce helped me make some pizza pockets, and then we watched Ender's Game (SO good! I really liked it.) It was a lot of fun, and good to spend time at home.
Dad doing the dishes, Liam being a stinker, and mom making the chicken pillows.

There are like a million cats, and all that snow came down that morning.

Liam being a bit dramatic.

  • I have this need for excellence in different aspects of my life, and when I don't excel, or don't get recognized for my 'greatness' it really discourages me. It also discourages me more when people who don't deserve it get the goods.
  • I've been super negative lately, and am working on fixing that. Sorry!
  • My right pinky no longer works and I'm a bit concerned that the rest of my fingers will get that way. Also, with that and the sore on my finger, I probably type really funny....like one letter at a time.

  • I don't like going to sleep, so I try to delay it as long as I can, then I wake up feeling sick and tired and grumpy.
  • When I make a sandwich the bread slices have to match up (like the shape) when I put them together, otherwise it drives me crazy.
  • I also despise showering in the morning (always have really), but more so now that its a million times harder, so in the morning my hair usually looks like I slept on wet hair...and I'm getting to the point I don't really care

  • I really want a new wardrobe with clothes that fit, but don't want to buy anything because I don't know how long I'll stay this size.
  • I've gotten to the point that I think I kind of like it here in Logan. I like my job and co-workers, my ward, and my friends....Just in time for life to throw us a curve ball
  • So can't wait for the three day weekend...and seeing family and cute almost 2 year old nephews! And just getting away.

Inspiration | 2.10.14

This quote comes from {this talk} by President Uchtdorf. I can totally relate to many of the things he said. Especially as of late. I have noticed that my health is not where it should be (more so than normal), and it makes me super tired after work which then makes me 'too tired' to do my Visiting Teaching or other church related things. I also just want to sit around instead of do things with my husband. I had a talk with my boss and he told me, "I don't want you to get so worn out here at work that you can't enjoy the rest of the day." It really got me thinking about what it important, and what matters most. Because of that I made the decision to not work quite as much. It's only an hour less each day, but I feel like I'm more able to do things that I previously neglected (scripture study, housework, etc.) I also have more energy after work to do other things as well. and enjoy time with my husband.

Sometimes it's hard to give up what you're used to, or even what you enjoy doing, but if it's causing problems or stress in other areas of your life, it really is time to re-evaluate on what matter most.

Week in Review | 02.09.14

I don't really have an pictures that weren't posted to IG, so these are all repeats. Sorry! :)

Week in Review: 2.2-2.8
  • I didn't sleep so well Saturday night/Sunday morning. I woke up and puked a bit. Totally nasty. I think my new dose of meds is messing with me. It was not pretty. I felt a bit nauseous all day.
  • I got to teach on Sunday. Luckily I only have to teach about 3 times a year, but it always makes me so nervous, and I usually sweat like crazy. I taught on trials and adversity, and why we go through them, how to make it through, and blessings that come from them. I ramble sometimes when I get nervous, so hopefully I did okay.
  • I was also the only member of the presidency at church so I conducted, led the music, and taught. That was fun. I went home right after.
  • Superbowl Sunday. I was hoping the Broncos would win because I like Peyton Manning, but decided half way through to not become emotionally attached since they were getting (and got) blown out. It was sad.
  • Half-time show of Bruno Mars was good, though the Red Hot Chili Peppers were really strange.
  • I also had my first banana in a very long time. I'm trying to eat better. Bananas have never been my favorite. They are just strange texture wise, and have very little flavor. I think I ate 3 halves this week!
  • Because I hadn't been sleeping very well over the past few weeks, and I was sick Sunday, I decided to take a sick day Monday and stay home. I always feel bad, but since that was only my 2nd time calling in sick (not counting "the fall" days), I decided I really needed it. It was great. I slept in and just relaxed.
  • Greg got me a hot fudge sundae from McDonald's just because. Love him!
  • Tuesday we did good getting up early and ready for work, and then Greg locked the keys in the car. Whoops! I'm just glad that I'm now not the only one to do it.
  • Wednesday evening one of the sisters I visit teach called and asked if I could babysit for her the next morning from 7:30-9. I told her of course, but was really nervous about it. It went well though, and I even managed to get her little boy ready for school. Good job me!
  • We got McDonald's for breakfast on Saturday, and then were just lazy. It was so great!
  • I had to get fingerprinted for work on Saturday. I've been worried about it because my fingers are so messed up. Well, the officer said they probably wouldn't accept them, so she didn't charge me. Oh well. I guess I won't have to do mortgages now, right?
  • It snowed like crazy this week, and it was awesome. I love the snow. Hopefully we get a bit more before winter is over.

Bucket List 2

Before I got married, I wasn't much of an NBA fan. Sure, I went through my phase in like 4th/5th grade where I was kind of obsessed with the Orlando Magic, but once I got older it didn't really appeal to me a whole lot. When I got married, however, I realized that my husband is kind of obsessed with sports. He couldn't use that term, but I sure would. He is a major Miami Heat fan (since he was little, not a fair-weather fan). I became obsessed with the Phoenix Suns, and their then point guard Steve Nash (back when he won his two MVP's). My little brother Kennan has been obsessed with the Lakers since he was little, and he kind of got me liking them too. Then Steve Nash signed with the Lakers, so it's only natural that I follow him there, even though he hasn't played a whole lot this year. (BTW, Kennan also got Steve Nash's autograph! What? Totally not fair, right?)

Therefore, another item on my bucket list is to attend an NBA game. Preferably one of those three teams, or the 76ers, because that's who my cousin plays for. (Yes, I have a cousin who is an NBA player. It's kind of awesome! Love you Brandon! It's way cool seeing him play on TV. Bummer he's injured...)

Anyway, and if I'm really dreaming big, I'd have to be sitting fairly close to the floor so I can actually see the players. But really, I'd take anything. I just think it'd be awesome.

When You Mock Me & My Boy Band...

...you better be ready for some revenge!

So, ever since I declared my obsesion with One Direction to my co-workers, one of them, Caleb, has mocked me relentlessly. Any time they are mentioned, Caleb goes off on how stupid they are, how bad they suck, etc. (And you'd have to know Caleb to truly understand...we think he likes to argue, just to argue! But we like him, so he sticks around)

Last Thursday, another co-worker Lee came up and asked me who sings "Story of my Life." I told him One Direction, and he didn't believe me. He said that it didn't sound like their normal boy-band stuff, but that he really liked the song and couldn't stop singing it. (Lee is a little more supportive of my obsession, and doesn't make fun of me near as much.) Well, Caleb heard us talking, as Lee was trying to figure out the style of music it sounded like, and Caleb said he could figure it out. However, when we told him who we were talking about, the mocking started. He again went off about how stupid they are and how he couldn't believe that Lee liked them, and blah, blah, blah.

Friday, I get to work, and Lee asks me if I'm friends with Caleb on facebook. I told him no and asked him why. Apparently Caleb admitted on facebook that he listened to "Story of my Life" and watched the music video, and he LIKED THEM BOTH! Oh my goodness, you have no idea how happy that made me. I knew I had to do something, and I only had two hours to get it done before Caleb got into work.It had to be good, and I was totally giddy for that whole two hours. Here is what I did...

Had to officially welcome him to the fan club!

Made his official Directioner ID

A perfectly legit use of company ink and paper, in my opinion!

This was my favorite part...I also stalked him on facebook so I could find a picture of him to print off and put on a heart so he could feel like part of the band.

It was awesome. As soon as he walked in he said, "Someone told Breanne." I tried to play it cool like I didn't know what he was talking about, but let's face it. This is way too awesome to not take credit for. He laughed about it though. Good times, good times.

Also, in case you wondered. "Story of my Life" is my most favorite music video of theirs. All the pictures....so beautiful! I even cried when I first saw it. Their new video, "Midnight Memories" is pretty funny too. I really enjoyed it. Thank you One Direction! Totes love them!

And PS. Shanna, 1D is way cooler than BSB, though Caleb has told me that BSB was the best concert he's ever been to. He hasn't been to a 1D concert apparently! :)

Thursday Three | 02.06.14

  • I babysat a 4 year old and a 2 year old this morning. I was a bit nervous, but I got it done. I also got the 4 year old ready for school, and coats and boots on both of them. All by myself, I was proud.
  • It snowed something wonderful. It's still coming. I love it.
  • I'm excited for the Vampire Academy movie to come out tomorrow, even though I think it'll be a major disappointment.

A Simple Photo 3

This is my nephew Alex and I when I went and visited them in Georgia in March 2010. We had just eaten dinner at Red Robin, and the boys (twins Alex & Aidan) were kind of being stinkers. While we were waiting for our check, I told Shari that I'd take Alex and Lilli out to the car. It had rained like crazy earlier that day so there were puddles everywhere. Instead of getting into the van we decided to jump in the puddles. Lilli had a blast and we had to do our best to keep her from going into the street. Alex thought it was hilarious when we would jump in them and he got laughing pretty hard. It was so much fun, and one of my favorite parts of my trip.

Well, I gave my lesson yesterday. I think it went well. I gave it on trials & adversity. I think it was more for me than for anyone else. But this line stuck out to me. It's just a simple question, and one that could be asked for a number of things. As I've had a rough couple of weeks, I just need this good reminder to motivate me to keep going, and to finish strong.

Week in Review | 02.02.14

Not quite sure how exciting this past week has been, but I'll sure do my best to capture the highlights...

 Week in Review: 1.26-2.1
  • One of the positives of going into work an hour later is the extra time I have to get caught up on reading my scriptures, or conference talks. since I'm usually tired at the end of the day, it's nice to get them read earlier.
  • It's been a bit of a strange week. I've been a bit moody, and I'm not sure why. My stomach hasn't been very nice this past week, plus my head and body have been aching like crazy, It really has been strange.
  • Ever since the last orange vs red debate at work, we tend to have them a bit more often. Donna was wearing a pinkish sweater, and we were trying to figure out the correct color. It can be quite entertaining when you have a co-worker who thinks he is always right and will argue and  argue. Most the time we disagree to get him heated, which we does to us too, so it's all good.
  • Had a great Relief Society activities board meeting. We've got a fun activity planned for February that I'm super excited for. I'll post more about it after we have it.
  • Before going to the meeting I was trying to get something out of my purse, and I tripped over all our shoes, and stumbled and fell right on my butt. It hurt, but at least I didn't smack my head on anything.I'm a clutz, and I hate that I don't quite have the reflexes I once had.
  • It really hasn't snowed a whole lot lately, but Thursday we got a few flakes, and it was kind of a gloomy day, which normally I wouldn't mind, but with how the past weeks have been...
  • The lower part of my left leg was numb on Thursday, and has kind of been numb off and on. it's really strange, and I don't know whats causing it, but it kind of freaks me out,
  • Went to Coldstone..I got the Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip. Super delish! Great way to end the day/
  • Friday morning I spent creating my Visiting Teaching handouts. Yes I waited until the last day of the month. No, it won't happen again! They were really cute. I got the idea from {here}. You can see mine on instagram.
  • One Direction's new music video for 'Midnight Memories' came out, and luckily it was before I had to work! Yay!
  • Then I learned that a co-worker who had been mocking me forever for loving One Direction posted on Facebook that he liked on of their songs, so I took advantage and officially welcomed him to the 1D Fan Club. I spent my entire morning working on it. It was great.
  • The Relief Society is in charge of cleaning the church this month. Since Betty and Kelly were both gone (YIKES!), I was in charge this week. Greg and I went over Friday night and we cleaned the chapel and I wiped down the doors and pianos. Then Saturday morning I went over for a minute before work to give instructions to any ladies that showed up. Two showed up. But it's alright. Creepy guy was there to do whatever he does, so I'm not too worried about it.
  • I worked on Saturday with the newbie Colton, who is great. We got two awesome co-workers, and I'm glad for it. They make work easier, and more comfortable.
  • After work we went to Hastings, then got Cafe Rio, then relaxed, and watched Elysium. I also worked on my lesson for Relief Society. Glad that's over! Then we attempted sleep, I threw up sometime during the night, and then it was Sunday morning.
